SETA courses are perfect for you if you are trying to expand your knowledge, break into a new field and to grow in your current career. You will be able to finance your qualification or unit standards through your employer or you can finance the training yourself.
What is SETA accreditation?
The Sector Education Training Authority (SETA) is the quality assurance body for training and education within a specific business sector, industry, or environment.
SETA has accredited WWISE to enable us to provide various training courses and qualifications to our clients and the public. As a training provider, all our facilitators, assessors, and moderators have been thoroughly vetted.
How does SETA training help an organisation?
Whether it’s a full 1-year qualification or a 3-day unit standard, as an employer you are able to build and promote your delegates whose previous lack of skills or experience stood in the way of opportunities in the organisation. You will also be able to claim tax benefits from SETA training.
Accredited training counts strongly towards an organisation’s skills development score and allows the organisation to benefit from tax rebates, as they can claim back against skills development levies.
SETA is also responsible for the payment of the training levies collected by the South African Revenue Service (SARS), through the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), which is payable by all organisations who provide SETA training to employees.
Advantages of receiving SETA accreditation
As an employee or an individual when you attend a accredited course, you can be rest assured that you have completed a training course that has met your industry’s SETA requirements. This means that you have learned relevant, high-quality skills from a well-qualified, reputable trainer.
Accredited courses are also nationally recognised by employers in your industry, opening up new opportunities for employment and self-improvement in ways that non-accredited training does not. All of our full accredited qualifications are on NQF 5 level, which count towards your formal qualifications.
What’s the difference between the SETA qualification and courses?
SETA qualifications encompasses various unit standards that must be completed in order to obtain your qualification. SETA courses that are made up of unit standards allow you to attend in-person classes and long distance training.
Our SETA courses are available as NQF 1-10 qualifications and encompass various subjects and standard units in a specific topic and industry. At WWISE our full qualifications are between NQF levels 4 and 5.
What is an unit standard?
Unit standards are focused skill based courses that only cover one specific topic within an industry. These courses are perfect if you have a specific knowledge gap to fill or to ensure basic competency.
