E-Learning Courses on the ISO 45001 Health & Safety Management System

ISO 45001 is the new Health & Safety Management System standard, which has replaced OHSAS 18001. Companies have three years to make the transition from the OHSAS 18001 standard to ISO 45001.

To help companies with the transition, we offer several courses, which can be accessed online. The courses help participants to understand the implementation requirements in addition to internal audits, and gain awareness of the importance of the Health & Safety Management System.

ISO 45001 Health & Safety Management System Implementation

It is a short course to help those responsible for implementing the ISO 45001 standard, understand how it works and what implementation entails. The course is presented at NQF Level 5 and participants receive a Certificate of Competence upon completion of the course, subject to meeting the minimum requirements. Participants who fail to meet the minimum requirements will still receive a Certificate of Attendance.

The course enables participants to gain a better understanding of the ISO 45001 standard and framework. It comes with various generic implementation templates. Participants will also gain an understanding of how to interpret the clauses, helping them to apply the templates. It is relevant to any size organisation and industry.

Topics covered include an introduction to the standard and the Health & Safety Management System, an overview of the OHS Act, and key elements of the standard. The Plan-Do-Check-Act approach is also explained in the course and the various attitudes regarding health & safety are discussed.

They also learn about the various ISO 45001 clauses, including leadership, performance evaluation, improvement, planning and support, terms & definitions, context of the organisation, scope and normative reference, and support & operations.

Furthermore, participants learn how to implement each of the sub-clauses, and gain insight regarding the steps to follow for implementation. Upon completion of the course, the participants will be able to implement the ISO 45001 Health & Safety Management System.

    ISO 45001 Internal Auditing Course

Internal audits form part of the steps to become ISO 45001 certified. It is essential to measure the company’s performance in terms of the requirements from the ISO 45001 framework. It is intended for any size organisation, regardless of the industry in which it is operating. The course is recommended for employees tasked with the internal auditing process, as well as anyone who wants to become an internal auditor, or who wants to lead an internal auditing team.

They will learn about the various health & safety issues and the health & safety representative’s role. Each clause is addressed and individuals taking the course will learn how to audit each effectively. The participants learn about the auditing steps, which templates to use and how to effectively use them. We also provide case studies.
